State of Origin horror as man is 'killed in a one-punch attack by a stranger' in a pub beer garden just moments after the game finished - as his heartbroken partner screamed for help
A man is dead following an alleged one-punch attack after he watched the State of Origin decider at a pub in Brisbane.
The 49-year-old victim was involved in an altercation at an outdoor section of the Sundowner Hotel on Aerodrome Rd at Caboolture at about 10pm on Wednesday.
He was allegedly punched in the face by a 29-year-old man, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the concrete shortly after the game finished.
Paramedics works for 30 minutes to try to revive him but he died at the scene.
His heartbroken partner was at the hotel throughout the ordeal, the Courier Mail reported.
She was heard screaming 'baby, I love you', before being taken home by police.
The 29-year-old man was later arrested on Pasturage Road at 11.40pm.
He has been charged with unlawful striking and is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Thursday.
