Driver escapes unscathed after a semi-trailer burst into flames on a major Sydney highway - causing major traffic delays
A driver has escaped serious injury after his semi-trailer ignited in a fireball on a highway in Sydney's west - causing large traffic delays.
The M4 on Thursday afternoon was experiencing heavy traffic delays because of the blaze near the Reservoir Road off-ramp at Huntingwood.
Emergency crews were filmed on the scene as firefighters extinguished the flames before the fire spread - leaving the charred shell of the truck.
NSW Fire and Rescue and ambulances were dispatched to the scene just after 1.35pm on Thursday and attended to the driver who had only minor injuries.
The truck was believed to have been carrying food products.
'Reservoir Rd is now open in both directions but the eastbound off-ramp from the M4 to Reservoir Rd is still closed.' Live Traffic Sydney tweeted about 4pm on Thursday.
Drivers have been advised to use the Prospect Highway or Wallgrove Road exits to avoid traffic congestion.
