The biggest reason that won Joe Biden the election is there were too many people who President Trump had angered for him to be able to get enough votes to win.
A lot of people were angry about things President Trump had said that he simply didn’t need to say. As Gene Simmons put it: “President Trump speaks with no filter.”
Speaking with no filter is saying whatever comes to mind; it is speaking before you think. He had never had a job where doing that got in his way of being able to do what he wanted to do and because of that, Trump had that bad habit of speaking with no filter. Trump said a lot of things that turned a remarkable number of people against him.
His response when he’d get criticized for saying insulting, mean-spirited things was not any better. He could have approached criticism with a lot more tact than he did.
Trump could have said that it was a bad habit he picked up in the business world, where being diplomatic isn’t of as primary importance as it is in politics. He could have apologized when he said things he shouldn’t have and told people that he was still getting used to being president and was trying hard to break his bad habit. Of course, he would have had to have meant it and truly been trying to better himself.
He didn’t do anything of the sort. He never showed any remorse! He acted like he could say whatever he wanted to say and if people didn’t like it that was their problem - not his. Eventually he found out that it was his problem, or at least, you’d like to think he finally realizes that but I wouldn’t bet on it. He’s stubborn, he’s arrogant and he tends to come across like a jackass.
Donald Trump never learned the art of subtlety. He’d probably ask why he should learn to be subtle. Either nobody ever told him or he just didn’t listen when people would say he had better learn the art of subtlety because the lack of it turns competitors into enemies and enemies into fanatics.
