What went on between President Donald Trump and Leslie Stahl?
Answered by: Daniel Kaplan,I study politics on an ongoing basis.
He may claim that it was because Ms. Stahl questioned him over his unwillingness to wear a mask (Ms. Stahl has apparently already contracted and recovered from COVID-19).
Based upon prior interviews and Donald Trump’s growing resentment when questioned, he likely didn’t like the line of questions and had decided that he only wanted slow softball questions. Thus, he posted the following:
I doubt I’ll find the interview to be fake or terribly biased, but that’s because I already loathe Trump more than I have maybe any other politician in modern American history. I could be wrong and will certainly watch the interview with a critical eye. Just because I find Trump untrustworthy doesn’t mean that those opposed to him will act like angels.
So… I will tentatively (until I see the interview) say “Good work, Ms. Stahl. Making politicians uncomfortable by asking them the hard questions is your job. You get a tip of my hat.”
If Donald Trump wants a propaganda piece to support him, he can beg his buddy Rupert Murdoch to have the New York Post do it. No real paper would throw away their credibility.
